This was a good start for Cora’s “Heroes Of Chance Creek” series about the 4 Hall brothers. The Halls had to leave their family home in Montana when their Dad died. Their Mother took them to Florida where her sister lived. When the brothers became of age they enlisted in the military each brother choosing a different branch. This story is about Mason who joined the SEALs. Shortly before he was to be discharged he found out his Uncle Zeke had died and the ranch was left to their Aunt Heloise. Heloise contacted Mason and offered him a deal. She would give them the ranch if all 4 brothers would get married within the year, and if one would have a baby. If they didn’t she would give it to their cousin. Mason contacts his brothers and tries to get them all on board with the plan. He then places a “wife wanted” add on the internet to get things started and encouraged his brothers to do the same. Reagan got drunk one night while surfing the internet and sees his ad. Thinking it would be fun she answers the email not thinking it was for real. Mason replies and wants to set up a video chat. This is how it all gets started. After he is discharged he goes to meet her and convinces her to go to the ranch with him and see if they might be a good match. The house and out buildings are in need of a lot of repair, not like he remembered it 13 years ago. The story continues with how they get to know each other and confront the issues at hand. This is part one of the series but is a standalone book, no cliffhangers, and a HEA ending.Product details

This was one of those tiny cliffhanger things where only the very beginning is there and you have to buy the rest. To me this is terribly deceitful and I do not read these anymore. Don't bother unless you want to pay for another mediocre story...
I read this in a box set about 2 years ago and ended up taking advantage of the fact that it was free on and just finished it for the 2nd time. This book, as well as all the following in the series, are amazing and wonderful. I couldn't put this book down. The dialogue is so hilarious I was laughing until tears were streaming down my face and my husband was looking at me like I was crazy.
Mason and his 3 brothers, all military men, are devastated when their father died suddenly years ago and the family ranch went to their uncle. Now that uncle has died without a will but Great aunt Heloise has a deal they can't pass up. If the 4 men are married and can produce at least 1 heir within 12 months they will get the ranch back. In the meantime Mason has just retired from the Navy and put wife wanted ads on-line for he and his brothers, much to their chagrin. They don't like the terms but all of them want the family farm back and are willing to do what it takes to get it back.
Regan has just resigned her position as bank loan officer and is ready to venture into starting her own business. In addition she has decided she is done with the dating scene and is ready to have a child on her own. After a night of too much wine and hanging out on the internet she comes across a wife wanted ad she finds hilarious and before she knows what she has done, she responds to the ad. The banter between Regan and Mason on-line is beyond hilarious and I couldn't stop laughing. By the time the two finally meet a definite connection has been made. Regan is still trying to convince herself they are just friends but it doesn't take long for Mason to convince her to come to Montana and check out the ranch and see what she thinks.
This book, and the entire series is wonderfully hilarious, heart wrenching, devastatingly sad and I couldn't put any of them down. Cora Seton is definitely one of my favorite authors. I highly suggest reading the set in order to get the full affect.
This story made me laugh out loud --- many times. I loved the concept of four virile military brothers forced to find wives. Great concept for a plot. Mason and Regan's interaction via emails was hilarious and fun! I absolutely loved the dual POV, giving delicious insight to their inner thoughts.
Mason Hall is a 6'2" Lieutenant Commander Navy SEAL who's tour is up and he's going home to Montana. But he needs a wife to claim an inheritance. When he places an Ad for a wife, he quickly zeroes in on Regan Anderson. And even though it made no sense to pursue her (she didn't meet any of the qualifications), he couldn't help the attraction he felt for her.
Regan Anderson is a rare gem. She has long auburn hair and sparkling mischievous green eyes. More than anything, she wants a baby...but she doesn't want a man. So she's decided to be artificially inseminated. First, she has one last drunken fling with wine and tequila and while in her drunken stupor, she answers a "wife wanted" ad....
I loved the strength of commitment and home values that are instilled in both characters. Each are dedicated and committed to a possible marriage and having a family. They both give more than they take. They care more for the other than expect to be taken care of. This was a good story of opposites attraction and overcoming small differences to see the commonality of interests...and opening your heart and mind to see the bigger picture.
The only downside that didn't make any sense was the debts that Mason had to pay. Debts accumulated by his deceased uncle. It didn't make sense to me that towns people would...A).. not only expect this young, ex-military man...who served to defend our country, (and a son to their small township)...they expected him to pay these exorbitant debts that were not even his, but...B).. to actually seek him out upon his return home to ask him for the money. Especially when there was a son of the deceased already living in the town! Why not go to him? But...despite this nonsensical part of the story, I decided to just read on and try to enjoy the story for what it was...a fun, entertaining escape.
